What do you want to calculate?
Your calculated CPM
This is the cost per 1,000 impressions based on your CPC and CTR
Typical shopping and catalog campaigns where volume is high and margins are tighter.
Highly competitive clicks where each lead is valuable and audiences are smaller.
Local lead generation campaigns for buyers, sellers, and rental traffic.
Niche B2B audiences where one closed deal can pay for months of ads.
Treat these benchmarks as guardrails, not a scorecard. If your results are a little above or below, that is normal. Pay more attention to how your own campaigns improve month over month.
Data inspired by public industry reports from WordStream and niche PPC agencies. Always sanity-check with fresh numbers for your market and geography.
💡 If your CPC looks high but your close rate is strong, do not panic. Expensive clicks can still be cheap revenue. The real red flag is a low CTR and a high CPM at the same time.
CPM = CPC × CTR × 10CPC = CPM ÷ (CTR × 10)CTR = (CPM ÷ CPC) ÷ 10Example
CPC, CPM, and CTR are not random dashboard numbers. They are three sides of the same triangle. If you know any two, the third is locked in by simple math. In this calculator CTR is entered as a percentage (for example 2 means 2%), so the formulas are: CPM = CPC × CTR × 10, CPC = CPM ÷ (CTR × 10), and CTR = (CPM ÷ CPC) ÷ 10. A low CTR means you pay CPM for a lot of impressions that never turn into clicks. A strong CTR means you squeeze more clicks out of every thousand views and your effective CPC drops. When you understand these formulas you stop arguing about opinions and start moving the levers that actually change your costs.
